Survodutide

Survodutide is an investigational once-weekly injectable that activates two receptors: GLP-1 and, unusually, glucagon. That second target sounds like a mistake — glucagon is the hormone that raises blood sugar — but glucagon also increases energy expenditure and drives fat breakdown in the liver, which is what the drug is built to exploit.

SYNCHRONIZE-1, published in 2026, randomized 725 adults with obesity and without diabetes to survodutide 3.6 mg, 6.0 mg or placebo for 76 weeks. Mean weight change was −12.2% at 3.6 mg and −13.0% at 6.0 mg, against −5.4% on placebo. Weight reduction of at least 5% was reached by 72.6% and 71.9% of the two dose groups versus 46.3% on placebo. Mean baseline weight was 108.8 kg with a mean BMI of 37.9.

Those figures are solid but not the largest in the field, and the tolerability numbers explain part of why. Gastrointestinal adverse events — typically mild to moderate — occurred in 80.9% of the 3.6 mg group and 89.7% of the 6.0 mg group, against 47.9% on placebo. No deaths were reported.

The reason survodutide stays interesting despite mid-pack weight numbers is the liver. Glucagon-receptor activity has a direct effect on hepatic fat, and the drug is being studied in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease as well as obesity. A drug that treats two conditions at once has a different value proposition than one that treats weight alone.

Survodutide is not FDA-approved and is not available by prescription. Nothing sold online under that name comes from a legitimate supply chain.
