GLP-1 quick answers

Short answers to what people actually ask. Every figure is computed from our own provider dataset and updates when the data does.

How much does compounded semaglutide cost online?

The median published price is $170 a month across 526 price tiers in our index. Typical advertised rates run roughly $99 to $299. Brand-name Wegovy lists near $1,349 a month without insurance, which is the gap that drives almost all compounded demand.

Is the advertised monthly price what I will actually pay?

Usually not. Of the 547 open GLP-1 programs we track, 308 advertise a monthly figure that is not the amount a patient pays — most often an entry tier, a first-month rate that rises, or a rate conditional on prepaying several months. A further 118 publish no usable monthly price at all.

What is the single most common pricing catch?

A first-month rate that rises. 67 programs advertise an introductory month and charge more from month two — the step is rarely on the same screen as the headline price.

How do I compare two programs fairly?

Add three things to the headline: whether the price includes the medication, whether it holds at your maintenance dose, and whether it requires a multi-month prepay. Two programs can advertise the same number and differ by hundreds a month once those are settled.

Is compounded semaglutide the same as Wegovy or Ozempic?

No. Compounded semaglutide uses the same active molecule, but a compounded preparation is not an FDA-approved finished product and has not been through the approval process for that formulation. The price gap reflects that regulatory difference, not an approved generic.

Does insurance cover GLP-1s for weight loss?

Sometimes, and it turns on the diagnosis and the plan. Coverage for obesity alone is far less common than for type 2 diabetes, and most approvals require prior authorization with documented criteria. Medicare Part D added a GLP-1 pathway in 2026 under specific conditions.

How do I check whether a provider is legitimate?

Look for four things a real program will publish: which states it is licensed to serve, the pharmacy it sources from, its cancellation terms, and a price that states what it includes. A program that publishes none of those is not necessarily bad, but there is nothing to check.

How we score providers

What does an FDA warning letter to a provider mean?

It means the FDA has written to that company about a specific alleged violation — most often marketing claims about compounded GLP-1s. It is a fact worth knowing before you sign up. It is not, by itself, a finding that the company is unsafe, and we disclose letters rather than treating them as disqualifying.

Can I cancel a GLP-1 telehealth subscription anytime?

It depends on the program, and a large share do not say. Some are month-to-month with no strings; others require a membership, a multi-month prepay, or charge a remaining-balance fee to leave early.

Which providers ship to my state?

Availability is set by clinician licensure, so it varies by program. We track state coverage across 557 GLP-1 programs and publish a page per state listing which serve residents there.

Is the cheapest program the best value?

Rarely, because the cheapest advertised figure is the one most likely to be conditional. Of the programs we track, the lowest headline numbers are disproportionately entry tiers and prepay rates. Compare the amount you will pay at your maintenance dose, not the number on the landing page.

How does this site make money?

Affiliate commissions when readers start with some providers. Payment never changes an editorial score or a position in the objective ranking, partner rows are labeled, and our lowest-scored providers include companies we earn from.
