Handling the pen or vial

Once you start using it: the in-use window is 14 days at room temperature. Mark the date you first used it (on the device or your calendar) so you know exactly when to discard it — the label requires discarding after this window even if medicine remains.

Keep the pen or vial in its original carton whenever possible — this is what protects it from light, and doubles as a place to note the first-use date. Never store a pen with the needle attached between uses.

Traveling with Trulicity

TRULICITY's room-temperature window is shorter than most weekly GLP-1 pens — 14 days, versus 21–56 days for others — so it's worth refrigerating as soon as you can on a trip rather than assuming the full window like you might with Ozempic or Zepbound.
